Prada was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada in the city of Milan. Before it was the couture label we know today, it was known as "Prada Brothers" in Italy--a leather goods business. But the label’s foray beyond luggage didn't happen until Mario's granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, inherited the it in 1978. It was Miuccia who led the company into high fashion, expanding the leather goods business into a line of clothing and accessories. In 1989, Prada made its official ready-to-wear launch on the Milan runway. Miuccia started Prada's second line of clothing called Miu Miu in 1992. The Miu Miu line evokes high-end vintage, but is simple in its execution of style. Prada is widely recognized as one of the most influential clothing designers in the fashion industry, influencing runways around the globe.

NASCAR high heels and cowgirl boots?
Just as 'Fashion Week' in New York is wrapping up -NASCAR is getting started. The sizzling stock car racing brand — which still has no female drivers in its top circuit — can no longer take women for granted. NASCAR might seem a boys' club, but women are 40% of NASCAR's fan base and 50% of its new fans.
NASCAR thinks it can boost it's product sales — and image — by courting female fans. Five years ago, NASCAR sold $84 million in goods for women. This year, it expects to sell roughly $250 million, much of it online at nascar.com, says Mark Dyer, vice president of licensing.
"NASCAR is one of the hottest brands out there," says Wendy Liebmann, president of WSL Strategic Retail. "A lot of middle-American women — women who shop — are devoted to the sport."
Some 51% of NASCAR's female fans say they'd opt to shop at retailers with NASCAR styles for women.
What NASCAR's doing to oblige: Swimsuits, Shoes, leather coats and purses, clothing, books (The Girls Guide to NASCAR hits bookstores next month.)
And after sales of two Harlequin romance novels took off last year, the publisher plans another 19 NASCAR-themed romances in the next year.
NASCAR brand shoes also sell in Victoria's Secret they're not awful but still a ways from couture. Although I would wear the pair above, but you can't go wrong with a pair of red patent leather pumps.
My amazing boyfriend Ben is really into NASCAR and stock car racing. I have watched a couple of races with him, including the Daytona 500, and slowly I am understanding the sport and starting to get into it. So where previously my opinion of NASCAR reflected this T-shirt from Bustedtees.com
I will eventually have to admit to being a NASCAR fan. Although I think I will stick to Salvatore Ferragamo and Jimmy choo
